When Arshak Ghalumyan takes to the stage, he is sure to attract the attention of the audience. He received his dancing education in Armenia and Hamburg and made remarkable appearances at renowned ballet competitions. Arshak fascinates the audience with his extraordinary stage presence, his fluent and precise movements and his extraordinary sense of phrasing and musicality. During his many years as a solo dancer with the Staatsballett Berlin, he was able to enrich the company in all stylistic facets of the repertoire. His interpretations of William Forsythe's epic duet ‘Herman Schmerman’ and his participation in Nacho Duato's pieces were particularly outstanding. Arshak's dancing qualities also characterise his own choreographies and represent everything that the BBC stands for.

His openness to cross-over projects, his love of experimentation paired with his sensitivity for composition turn his pieces into energising events -- and he's only getting started really.
